Creatine Monohydrate

Posted by Patrick Dickson on

What is Creatine Monohydrate?

Creatine is a naturally occurring organic amino acid which is contained in skeletal muscle.

It is also present dietarily in lean meats such as kangaroo and beef.

The body does have a supply of creatine but it is also available as a free form supplement.

The most popular and researched form of this compound is creatine monohydrate.

Creatine monohydrate is one of the most widely studied supplements on the planet only 2nd to caffeine.

What Does it Do?

Creatine is a very simple amino which serves the function of recycling energy for explosive efforts.

Once energy has been 'used' it turns into adenosine di-phosphate (ADP) an it's creatine which recycles this into adenosine tri-phosphate so it can then b re-used again for energy.

This 'bonus' supply of energy will provide you more fuel to train harder,do more work and stimulate more muscle fibres in the gym.

This is a very important part of the signalling process which is required for building new tissue.

How Do I Take It?

For best results we recommend taking 5gm of creatine monohydrate twice per day, everyday.

Research shows that creatine absorption is best alongside carbohydrates to improve absorption. For this reason we recommend splitting up for doses to 5gm 1st thing in the morning with breakfast and another 5gm immediately post-workout with your protein of choice.

Creatine does NOT need to be loaded or cycled as it is already present in the body.

Stacking?

Yes,creatine is great for stacking. This would be ideal to take alongside a complete pre-workout that has a clinical dose of beta-alanine.Beta-alanine combined with creatine provides a very effective performance boosting combination which has fantastic data to show its effectiveness.

Which Products Have This?

Creatine monohydrate is a very common amino acid. It can be found in a number of pre-workout or intra-workout supplements.

We would recommend either Optimum Nutrition Creatine Powder or EHPLabs Crea-8.

Both of these are very good quality brands and you can see from the first service the results are going to be good.
