What is the Mark Bell Slingshot
What is the Mark Bell Slingshot?
Are you looking to take your bench press to the next level?
If you're like 99% of the gym community, you are. Without a doubt, the bench press is king of the lifts in the gym. Not many people will care to ask about how much you curl, or how much you squat, everyone wants to know how much ya bench!
But, without the bench press is one of the hardest lifts to progress with on a consistent basis.
If you find your bench press has hit a plateau and the weights are no longer moving as easy as they should, or perhaps your form is breaking down as the weight increases, you could benefit from using some accessories.
One particular accessory we recommend would be the Mark Bell Slingshot. What is the Mark Bell Slingshot? This is a gym accessory which helps you increase your bench press weight and form through progressive overload.
Specifically, the Mark Bell Slingshot will help you:
- Increasing your bench press one rep max.
- Improving bench press technique.
- Reducing injury risk to the shoulders and elbows.
- Increasing confidence in pressing heavier weights.
As you can see, the Slingshot is loaded with benefits for increasing your bench press!
So, how do you know what type of Mark Bell Slingshot to use? Currently, there are four different types of SlingShot available which are suited for varying levels of experience, find out which one is best suited for you below:
The Orginal Slingshot
The OG of the Slingshot family, this is the product which revolutionised the industry.
The design of the Original Slingshot offers a thick rigid elastic, making it an ideal choice for overload work. It is estimated that using this product, you can press approximately 10-15% on top of your current max.
Due to its tough material, the Original SlingShot offers great support and stability, locking in the elbows to prevent flaring, protecting the shoulders from the additional strain, and providing excellent power off the chest.
We recommend using this particular product for progressive overload work. It is suited for all experience levels.

The Reactive Slingshot
The Reactive Slingshot is the most common product variation. Commonly blue in colour, this product is suited for all experience levels but would be a great starting point for a beginner.
This Slingshot offers a less rigid material, making it more pliable and easier to use and master. The elasticity of the Reactive model means that it is better suited for speed reps and higher rep exercises.
Often users will use the Reactive Slingshot for submaximal work rather than overload, so we recommend using this particular version for loads up to 80% of your one rep max.

The Full Boar Slingshot
The Full Boar Slingshot is a great bench press training tool. This is a very similar derivative to the original SlingShot. Offering a very stiff and rigid material, perfect for overload work.
The key difference with the Full Boar Slingshot is its tapered sleeves. The tapered sleeves allow for a more snug fit around the forearm and prevent the material from bunching up when in use.
The Maddog SlingShot
When it comes to maxing out your bench press, accessory equipment doesn't get much more intense than the Maddog SlingShot.
This piece is a made from a multi-ply material and offers twice the rebound you would normally get from the Original SlingShot.
This build allows you the user to hand the most resistance out of the entire Slingshot range, however, most users will find they need to press at least 180kg (405lb) to actually use the piece properly.
For this reason, it is recommended that the Maddog Slingshot is used purely for maximal work in the 1-3 rep range.
So, if your trying to find the best bench press training accessory to build both size and strength, the Slingshot is for you! Check out our guide below to see which type is best suited for your needs.
- Beginner (60-120kg press) or Speed Work: Reactive Slingshot
- Intermediate Lifter (100kg-160kg press): Original Slingshot
- Experience Lifter (140-180kg press): Full Boar Slingshot
- Very Experienced Lifter (180kg+): Maddog Slingshot
In addition to these awesome bench press accessory tools, Slingshot offers a wide range of lifting equipment that can help you press more weight and increase muscle growth.
Two items in particular which we strongly recommended in conjunction with the Slingshots are:
- Slingshot Gangsta Wraps: These are without a doubt the #1 wrist support on the market. Countless professional lifters rely on these wraps to consistently press 500lb+ on a regular basis.
- Slingshot Strong Elbow Sleeves: When it comes to elbow support, it doesn't get much better than these elbow sleeves. If you find yourself dealing with minor niggling pain on a regular basis due to overtraining, these are a must for injury prevention.
The Mark Bell Slingshot is a fantastic training accessory specifically designed at adding more volume to you bench press sessions. Increased volume will result in a faster CNS adaptation and greater muscle stimulation and growth.
Often misunderstood, the Slingshot is going to benefit any athlete who is looking to increase muscle growth and their pressing ability. These are certainly not limited to just powerlifting or strength athletes.
So, if you're looking to take your training to the next level, and start finally hitting new PR's and putting on mass, give the Slingshots from Mark Bell a try on your next bench session!
