WHAT IS EPICATECHIN?

Epicatechin is a flavanol from the group of flavanoids. It is derived from cocao or dark chocolate. People have claimed dark chocolate has many health benefits, it's actually the epicatechin which is beneficial. The darker the chocolate the higher the concentration. This has also started making its way into a range of sports supplements.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

Epicatechin has a wide range of health benefits. These include:
  • Increase health benefits
  • Enhanced insulin sensitivity
  • Improved blood pressure
  • Enhanced muscle building potential
There is also some research to suggest that this interferes with myostatin for enhanced muscle building. Myostatin restricts muscle growth and epicatechin interferes with the way it binds to cells. When blood flow/pumps a dose of 20-50mg is considered optimal. To attain the potential muscle building effects 200mg/day is an optimal dose.

HOW DO I TAKE IT?

For best results this is taken pre-workout. This can be used as part of a pre-workout stack/energy supplement if desired. This is not only beneficial for pumps and muscle building but also recovery. The increased insulin sensitivity is excellent for post-workout carbohydrate utilisation.

STACKING?

Yes-absolutely. This makes an ideal addition to any pre-workout combination. If you love crazy pumps in the gym this can be added in before training for enhanced blood flow and muscle pumps.

WHAT PRODUCTS HAVE THIS?

There a range of products that contain epicatechin. For pumps we'd recommend a pre-workout supplement containing the ingredients. If looking for the muscle building effects it's best to get Blackstone Labs Epicat.

TWO GOOD OPTIONS:

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
